7 drink deals worth seeking out at Walt Disney World - Tampa Bay Times

When finding a good drink deal at Walt Disney World, it does help to get out of the parks. Revel in the tiki bar vibes of the Polynesian Resort, or park yourself at one of the bustling restaurants at Disney Springs — no ticket required. Here are seven spots with cocktail deals worth seeking out. And don’t worry, we’ve got tips for in-park drinking, too.

Order this cocktail at Tambu Lounge.

A popular drink at the Polynesian Resort is the Lapu Lapu at Tambu Lounge. It’s a 9-ounce rum and pineapple juice drink — and nearly half the mixture is straight liquor. It all comes served in a hollowed-out pineapple. It’s $18, but strong enough for two people to share. If you don’t care about the pineapple, ask for it in a glass and save $4.

Opt for larger pours at Epcot.

Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival is fun, but it can be quite pricey. Instead of buying premixed drinks with little alcohol at the park’s various food festivals (their next one, the International Festival of the Arts, begins Jan. 17), visit the bars in Morocco and United Kingdom. You save a couple of dollars and get a larger drink with twice the alcohol.

Also, don’t miss the Dragon Berry Refresher at Epcot’s Refreshment Port. It features lots of Bacardi Dragon Berry Rum. It’s $11.75, but one of these hits you straight in the forehead and keeps you crowd-ready for half the day.

Share drinks at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.

Another shareable drink at the Polynesian is the Uh-Oa from Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. It’s $23, but it’s made with multiple types of rum and comes in a stemmed bowl with multiple straws. This drink is great for a couple to share throughout the evening, or for a group of friends who want to sample different drinks. And you can’t beat the ambience at one of Disney’s coolest drinking spots.

Go for the happy hours at Disney Springs.

There are tons of drink savings to be found at Walt Disney World’s constantly growing entertainment complex Disney Springs. You don’t need a park ticket to bop from restaurant to restaurant finding deals that usually run Monday through Friday from late afternoon to early evening. Try the Edison for seriously good discounted craft cocktails, or even high-end steakhouse STK, where cocktails are half price during happy hour. Raglan Road and Jaleo are solid options, too.

There’s gold at Fort Wilderness.

Take a trip to Crockett’s Tavern at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground to find a full menu of moonshine-based drinks. They’re $14 each, but they’re served in big mason jars and they are strong.

Grab a brew at Hollywood Studios.

Not even Disney could resist the craft beer trend — the newish BaseLine Tap House at Hollywood Studios feels like a neighborhood brewery. There are more than a dozen beers on tap, and while the prices for the 16-ounce brews are pretty standard for Disney ($9.25), the larger 22-ounce pours ($10.50) feel like a good deal, 6 ounces more beer for just $1.25.

Add rum to your Dole Whip.

Snack time for the family becomes a moment of relaxation for Mom and Dad. Disney’s frozen pineapple treat Dole Whip turns into a cocktail when you order a shot of coconut or dark rum to be added on top. Different versions of this can be found at various locations on Disney property. Check prices, because some are cheaper than others, but prices range from $10 to $14. That’s not bad for a beloved Disney treat and a cocktail all in one.
